Abstract: The experiment entitled “Effect of pre-harvest spray of calcium on post-harvest quality of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) cv.Winter Dawn in Chitwan, Nepal” was conducted from November 2021 to March 2022 and laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications. Strawberry was subjected to five doses of calcium-EDTA @ 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1250 ppm with no spray of calcium-EDTA (water spray). Foliar spray of calcium-EDTA was done for three times: 30, 45, and 60 days after transplanting. The result revealed that post-harvest quality parameters and gray mold percentage were significantly influenced by different doses of calcium-EDTA. The highest TSS (8.20 ºBrix), TSS/TA ratio (12.67), and lowest titratable acidity (0.65 %) were recorded with 1000 ppm calcium-EDTA, followed by 750 ppm calcium-EDTA. Fruit were recorded firmer (3.94 kg/cm2) with the maximum juice content (69.75 %) by the application of 1000 ppm calcium-EDTA. Physioloigcal loss in weight (21.84 %) and gray mold (9.72 %) were recorded as lowest with 1000 ppm calcium-EDTA, with 7.42% reduced loss in weight and 6.13% lower gray mold percentage. The longer shelf life (3.85 days) was recorded as with the application of 1000 ppm calcium-EDTA. Thus, pre-harvest spray of 1000 ppm calcium-EDTA is more suitable for improving overall strawberry quality.
