Abstract:
This comparative study investigates the nutraceutical potential of walnut essential oil (WEO) and bitter kola essential oil (BEO) through a comprehensive analysis of their phytochemical composition, fatty acid profiles, and antioxidant activities. While hexadecanoic acid concentrations were similar (P>0.05) between WEO (16.70%) and BEO (16.24%), WEO exhibited significantly (P 0.05) concentrations of linolenic acid in WOE and BOE. Phytochemical analysis revealed that WEO contained significantly (P 0.05) between WEO (42.05%) and BEO (42.86%). These findings highlight the potential health benefits of WEO and BEO, suggesting their promising roles as natural antioxidants and nutraceutical agents. Further exploration of their therapeutic applications is warranted, particularly in animal models.
