Abstract: Indonesian people who live in coastal areas mostly live as fishermen. Fishermen are coastal community entities that have a distinctive social structure and order. This study aims to determine the social and religious phenomenon of the Cilacap fishing community. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The study results show that the social and religious life of the Cilacap community has characteristics and is different from other community groups. In social life, fishing communities live in groups, have high solidarity, and have social strata. The socio-economic conditions of the community are very easy to change depending on the season. These seasonal changes form a distinctive and identical lifestyle in the life of fishermen. The religious life of the fishing community has a syncretic pattern, namely, religious teachings mixed with local community traditions.
