Labor Rights Violation in Global Supply Chains: A Multi-Stakeholder Approach, vol 23

Nizar Shbikat

in Book Series Labour and Globalisation from University of Kassel, Fachbereich Gesellschaftswissenschaften (Social Sciences), Internatioanl Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD)

Abstract: This book adopts a multi-stakeholder approach to exploring the issue of labour rights in global supply chains in three dimensions. It starts by addressing the potential causes of labour rights violations and visualising them using fishbone diagrams to show how these causes interrelate. The book proceeds by proposing a novel worker participatory approach for measuring these violations by considering workers as experiencers and observers of them. It then discusses how workers and their representatives can eradicate rights violations and advance workers’ interests in a contested environment by examining three case studies from China, Bangladesh and Jordan.
