Abstract: The theme of today’s conference is “The price, real and financial effects of exchange rates”. Since the collapse of the Bretton Woods System of fixed exchange rates in the early 1970s, the importance of understanding exchange rate movements and their international spillovers has increased enormously. Cross-border trade and capital flows have surged in recent decades, driven by globalisation and capital account liberalisation.
