in CEEP-BIT Books from Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEP), Beijing Institute of Technology

Abstract: Through systematic research, this textbook delves into how to ensure the successful realization of the carbon neutrality goal of the Beijing Winter Olympics, demonstrates its contribution to global climate change response, and elaborates on the significant impact of the Beijing Winter Olympics on the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. First, in light of the unique features of the Beijing Winter Olympics and with reference to the low-carbon practices of previous Olympic Games, it analyzes in detail the contents of low-carbon management for the Games and conducts a comprehensive assessment of its carbon neutrality achievements. Second, starting from the spillover effects of the Winter Olympics, it explores the impact of large-scale sports events on regional coordinated development, establishes a scientific and systematic evaluation system, and quantitatively evaluates the role of the Beijing Winter Olympics in advancing the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
