Abstract: Edited by František Turnovec, the Director of CERGE, and including contributions from several CERGE and EI economists, this 64-page booklet continues the tradition of the 1996 publication (see below). Its chapters cover various areas of the Czech economy (macroeconomy, microeconomy, foreign trade, public economy, etc.) as well as other spheres of Czech public life during the year 1997, a truly critical one in the transition of the Czech Republic.
