The Receipt of the Exchequer

Anthony Steel

in Cambridge Books from Cambridge University Press

Abstract: Originally published in 1954, this volume analyses the receipts of the English Exchequer between 1377 and 1485. The financial calendar is divided between Easter and Michaelmas periods, each period is analysed individually, and in chapters providing descriptions of broader historical phases. The text also contains an explanation of the techniques used for interpreting the receipts, together with a generous introduction, appendices, and a detailed index. This is a highly informative book that will be of value to anyone with an interest in medieval British history or economic history.
