Abstract: This document, of which an earlier version was published in 2013, reviews the laws and institutional frameworks that safeguard access to information, participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters, as enshrined in Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, in the 33 countries of the region, on the basis of the material collected in the Observatory on Principle 10 in Latin America and the Caribbean. This updated version reflects recent developments in these matters and the traction they have gained in the region and includes new examples of good practices and emerging issues.
