POWER AND ECONOMIC INSTITUTIONS
Edited by Bo Gustafsson
in Books from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This important book – written by leading economists and economic historians – analyses how institutions are shaped by economic forces, how institutions shape economic behaviour and how economics and politics interact in economic development. Part I deals with traditional economics and challenges received views of the efficiency of agriculture. Part II focuses on transitions to capitalism and recent theories of the origins of capitalist heirarchy at the firm level. The final part deals with the role of control, organizations and politics in capitalist development.
