Cognitive Science, vol Three volume set

Edited by Noel Sheehy and Antony J. Chapman

in Books from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Cognitive science is the study of intelligence and intelligent systems. Several disciplines including psychology, philosophy, linguistics and the neurosciences have well-established interests in these topics. Cognitive science is an attempt to organise and unify views of thought developed within these distinct disciplines. Cognitive Science is concerned with the construction of abstract theory of intelligent processes, the investigation of human and animal intelligence with the goal of developing a theory of intelligent processes from these observations and the investigation of computational principles that underlie the organisation and behavior of computer programmes. This three volume set presents a careful selection of the most important seminal articles on cognitive science. The editors have prepared a new comprehensive introduction to accompany the volumes.
