Chapter 6 in The Law and Economics of Federalism, 2017, pp 183-213 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this chapter we review the existing literature about the effects of the Medicaid program. We first describe the program’s structure and how it haschanged over time. We then discuss findings on coverage, crowd-out, take-up and health. Finally, we look at effects of the program on non-health outcomes such as welfare use and labor supply, marriage and fertility, and savings.
