Chapter 6 in The Geography of Academic Entrepreneurship, 2023, pp 86-113 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: When the performance of USOs is considered, a number of issues need to be addressed. These include how to measure performance and over what timescales; whether survival is an adequate (or even suitable) measure of performance; and how growth is explained. The chapter reviews these themes and considers the implications for regional development.
