UNHCR’s resettlement practice from 1995 to 2023: The structured years
.
Chapter 4 in Resettlement as Protection, 2024, pp 133-178 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Following a commissioned critical review of UNHCR’s resettlement policy and practice, UNHCR made institutional and substantive changes: an example of the former, the Annual Tripartite Consultations on Resettlement, and of the second: the issuance of a Handbook Resettlement. Even so, resettlement acquired multiple functions. The chapter includes several key operations of the structured years including resettlement to developing and least developing countries, and solidarity resettlement in Latin America.
