An improved in-class bargaining demonstration
Calvin Blackwell
Chapter 3 in New Developments in Economic Education, 2014, pp 41-45 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The author presents a simplified bargaining demonstration in which students engage with the concepts of backwards induction and fairness. The bargaining game the students play generates a conflict among several possible 'reasonable' strategies, leading to provocative and lively classroom discussions. The demonstration can easily be run in 30 minutes, and requires little preparation and few materials.
