Why should we need innovation in sports management?

Kadir Yıldız, Elvan Deniz Yumuk and Jerónimo García-Fernández

Chapter 8 in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Sport Management, 2021, pp 137-147 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Especially as of the 21st century, sport management arises as a system with the quality of a social institution which embodies contemporary and innovative approaches within. Consequently, it is significant, in terms of innovation in sports, that sport and sports events which affect an important part of social life should be managed not only by expert managers but also with innovative approaches. International changes require organizational structures to reinvent themselves and to adapt to this reinvention. In this chapter, the goal is to emphasize why innovation in sport and sport management environments which have become an industrial sector with their mass modern structure is required.
