Abstract:
This chapter provides an overview of entrepreneurship in China and India and its evolution over the 20th and 21st centuries. It demonstrates the way political transitions and economic policy shifts have impacted the trajectory of entrepreneurship in each country. In addition to reviewing data on entrepreneurial activity, the chapter discusses similarities and differences across the countries’ entrepreneurial development. Finally, the chapter highlights related challenges faced by each country, noting the role of culture and context.
