Managing the global economy
.
Chapter 3 in Unpacking the G20, 2024, pp 35-58 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter focuses first and foremost on the G20’s response to the Global Financial Crisis, which catalysed its upgrade to the leaders’ level in 2008. In addition, it explores the G20’s role as the self-designated ‘premier forum for international economic cooperation’, in the reform of international financial institutions, securing strong, sustainable and balanced growth, promoting trade and addressing taxation. The chapter examines these immediate and long-term challenges from the perspective of G20 members, their priorities and strategies.
