.
Chapter 6 in Unpacking the G20, 2024, pp 103-125 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The G20 has chiefly focused its attention on financial and economic issues. However, since 2008, the G20 has experienced a similar developmental trajectory to the G7 and come to embrace security issues. This chapter will review the G20’s engagement with security and then focus on why and the extent to which its members have welcomed or resisted this development with a specific focus on traditional security, terrorism and non-traditional security issues.
