Chapter 1 in The Value of Applied Economics, 2017, pp 1-14 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter examines the role of applied economics and the changing approaches of applied economists over time. It sets the scene for considering A.J. Brown’s contribution to applied economics and his general approach to the subject in the context of contemporary thinking, data availability, his peers, the economic problems of the time, and the way that applied economics is treated today.
