Abstract:
Michał Kalecki was born in 1899 into a Polish-Jewish family in Šodz, Poland, then occupied by Russia. His academic training was in the field of engineering though his formal education, after an interruption for military service, was brought to an end by his father's unemployment. He was self-taught in economics.
