Chapter 14 in Innovative Capabilities and the Globalization of Chinese Firms, 2020, pp 216-223 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In Chapter 14, McKelvey and Jin (2020) synthesize the main findings from each chapter according to our three themes of: 1) Specifying where innovation systems can affect the ability of Chinese firms to identify and act upon innovative opportunities; 2) Analyzing why Chinese firms’ acquisitions and collaboration can affect their capabilities for technology, innovation and globalization; 3) Exploring how Chinese firms develop new capabilities. The chapter then provides three propositions and outlines a future research agenda. The chapter ends with some words about innovation and development facing the challenges of digitalization and globalization in the decades ahead.
