Abstract: This chapter is the introduction. It briefly describes the aim of the book which is to explore how the globalization of markets have impacted upon insider trading and market manipulation which crosses borders and how securities regulators have responded. It outlines some of the important concepts in the book, such as market integrity, market abuse and cross-border market abuse. It describes the author’s research methodology and provides an outline of the following chapters in the book.
