Research opportunities considering student entrepreneurship in university ecosystems

Simon Mosey and Paul Kirkham

Chapter 10 in A Research Agenda for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2019, pp 155-167 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: We consider the under-explored phenomenon of student entrepreneurship and suggest avenues for future research across different levels of analysis. Taking a university entrepreneurial eco-system approach, we unpick the various elements that may contribute towards local economic development and discuss how they may interrelate. We draw upon theoretical constructs from organisational behaviour, education and psychology and show that studying student entrepreneurship offers great potential to contribute to the fields of entrepreneurship and management.
