Abstract: Technology research and innovation in transport services has changed markedly in the last few years. Drivers have been increasing pressure to deal with congestion in urban transport systems, the effects of extreme events on transport service resilience and an appetite for faster, safer and more frequent transport services that are people oriented. Roadmaps for technology research, innovation and development have been created that show the potential for major impact in fields such as low carbon automotive and aviation systems, autonomous transport systems on the roads and on the railways, information services for everybody, greater safety and resilience and better understanding of the needs of travellers and logistics service providers through improved modelling enabled by super computer technology. These research roadmaps are now being integrated to provide an holistic birth to death view of the potential for transformation of the transport experience for everybody.
