Chapter 19 in Handbook on Globalisation and Labour Standards, 2022, pp 340-358 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter considers the role of labour standards in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. It describes the history and content of the Guidelines and their relevance to labour standards. It focuses on the role of the National Contact points in the implementation of the Guidelines, providing a few case studies relevant to labour standards. Finally, it gives a critical assessment of the extent to which the Guidelines and the NCP process are sufficient to ensure the enforcement of labour standards by multinational enterprises.
