Abstract: Overall, community partnerships enable numerous advantages for institutions and residents. If community partnerships are to be valuable tools for solving pressing problems in localities and transforming communities, they must engage the most underserved populations. Partnership roles include hub, initial convener, financer, community bridge, partnership catalyst, learning partner (e.g. Marga Inc.), resources (i.e. a source of jobs) and experts (knowledge in particular fields). The Anchor Institutions Task Force created a new concept, Local Strategic Dialogues. These are targeted interventions designed to create new collaborative initiatives to solve a particular problem in a locality or region. At the community level, local governments, philanthropic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions have much to consider about the role they can play as engaged local actors.
