Chapter 9 in Strategic Community Partnerships, Philanthropy, and Nongovernmental Organization, 2021, pp 59-69 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: To resolve the huge issue of access to healthcare in Malawi, international NGOs, local nonprofits, philanthropic foundations, a private telecom company and local and national government agencies collaborated to develop Chipatala Cha Pa Foni (CCPF) which translates to "Health Centre By Phone". CCPF is a toll-free health and nutrition hotline that is in the process of transitioning from a localized, nonprofit-sponsored project to a national, government-led program. This chapter introduces the CCPF partnership in terms of all the active collaborators. The impact of this project and its response to the COVID-19 pandemic is also analyzed.
