Introduction: key issues and research problems
.
Chapter 1 in The Governance of Global Industry Associations, 2022, pp 1-16 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The first chapter gives a broad presentation of global industry associations as specialized bodies designed to represent corporate interests in global politics. It puts them into a historical and contemporary perspective. A range of related problems must be scrutinized to understand their behavior, such as membership structure, leadership, resources, self-regulation and policy focus. A key concern is to solve dilemmas and balance different concerns in the management of associations. These processes are instances of micro-politics that explain the internal life of industry associations and the bearing these processes have on their role in global politics
