Conclusion: governance and micro-politics

.

Chapter 10 in The Governance of Global Industry Associations, 2022, pp 181-191 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter sums up the major findings of the book. Industry associations are a special group of actors in business and politics, and associations must continuously adapt to secure their positions among other organizations in business. The conclusion also argues that there is considerable variation between them in the management of various dilemmas, and different forms of micro-politics are observed. To understand the many and diverse patterns of associational behavior it is necessary to draw on, combine and apply different sets of theories to scrutinize the unique mix of cooperation and competition found in global industry associations.
