Ecological perspectives: the industry associations in the business community
.
Chapter 3 in The Governance of Global Industry Associations, 2022, pp 39-54 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter gives us an understanding of the role of industry associations in a systemic context. Industry associations relate to other many other bodies in the business community and must continuously adapt. This chapter discusses the division of labor with, for instance, global peak associations that organize broader trans-industry interests, and associations that organize various shifting alliances, and, in addition, industry associations must observe a rich number of specialized firms that offer various services to the business community. In some respects, the domains of these other actors overlap with those of industry associations and different forms of competition emerge.
