Abstract: This chapter explores the types of relationships that can exist between non-compliance procedures and international courts and tribunals in the context of environmental disputes. As non-compliance procedures have been developed as an alternative to formal dispute settlement, but with a different purpose in mind, there are instances where the two mechanisms can potentially interact. This chapter seeks to understand the impact of each mechanism on the other, and aims to find ways in which they can interact constructively.
