Abstract: For mainstream studies of finance, the analysis of the geographical patterns of IFIs is a marginal consideration. This despite the immense influence of structures and patterns entailed by localization, polarization, distribution, power relations in boards and bodies, access to private financial powers or services, and the behaviours of geopolitical institutions. These are all factors that underpin the dominance of global finance, and the perspectives and geography of the world banking system. In this chapter, we address this chasm by mapping the changing landscape of the global financial architecture, with particular attention paid to IFIs.
