Institutional problems (and what you might do about them)
.
Chapter 5 in How to Stop Being Stuck with your Academic Writing, 2024, pp 96-106 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This section is addressed to academic managers who want to promote the quality and quantity of research in their groups. Several institutional barriers at the level of the sector and the individual institution are discussed, including both physical and cultural barriers. The section ends with a list of ideas to support academic managers to work towards a healthy research culture and some indicators of whether or not a specific group has one, looking from the outside.
