Capital theory and the theory of the firm

Nicolás Cachanosky and Peter Lewin

Chapter 13 in A Modern Guide to Austrian Economics, 2022, pp 238-256 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter develops the implications of applying Austrian capital theory to the neoclassical theory of the firm. We start by offering an account of the historical evolution of (Austrian) capital theory and its state of the art. We finish by extending recent financial applications to capital theory to the role of the entrepreneur and the theory of the firm. We also lay out potential areas of future research.
