Servitization and the green economy

Abstract: This chapter discusses the servitization of the manufacturing industry in Japan, which is the driving force behind the green economy. This means a shift from technology-based business to value co-creation business, where the resources of the company, customers, and other stakeholders are integrated to create co-creation value together. We presented the FKE (function, knowledge, and emotion) value model, a new KPI necessary to achieve this. We also introduce Japanese companies that have successfully established and are operating service ecosystems that realize the green economy. Finally, we analyze the characteristics and degree of progress in the servitization of Japan’s manufacturing industry by industry sector based on the results of a fixed-point, large-scale survey. For illustration, several cases of servitization by stages are presented.
