Abstract:
The information and technological revolutions have been changing all aspects of our daily life, how we learn, work, shop and interact with each other, and hence become vital elements of the development process. This chapter provides a review of artificial intelligence, its benefits and risks, and its impact on individual and society. The recent interests and advancements in additive manufacturing (3-d printing) signal significant changes in the manufacturing sector and production process that combined with artificial intelligence will have a major impact on employment and organization and structure of workplace. This chapter provides an overview of additive manufacturing; what it is and how it works and its advantages, limitations and challenges. The impact of information and technological revolutions on production process and employment is also reviewed and discussed in this chapter.
