Abstract: This chapter provides a synthesis of the disruptive factors and relevant concepts within the local and regional development context to promote the change process. Here, implications of sustainability concept, information and technological revolutions and social conflict for local and regional communities are discussed. A humanist approach is proposed to address problems and difficulties in the local and regional development process a way forward for a more humanitarian world.
