Chapter 18 in Handbook on Migration and Development, 2024, pp 281-298 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter is dedicated to issues of labour and forced migration (refugees; forced settlers; persons who have been granted temporary asylum) to post-Soviet Russia. Tendencies, dynamics and structure of migration to Russia are analysed. The authors address changes in Russian migration law and regulatory acts focusing on the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which is the largest regional integration association in the post-Soviet area. They identify precarious employment and vulnerability of migrants’ livelihoods. Priorities relating to the reduction of precarious employment of labour and forced migration are discussed with a focus on the protection of labour and social rights.
