Introduction to A Research Agenda for Experimental Economics
Ananish Chaudhuri
Chapter 1 in A Research Agenda for Experimental Economics, 2021, pp 1-16 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter provides an overview of the contents of this volume, which aims to foster fruitful cross-disciplinary conversations. One intended group of readers include people working in areas that may not automatically turn towards using experiments in studying their own research questions. We wish to inform these potential readers of ways in which experiments are being used by pioneers in those fields and to point out useful avenues of further research. But, we also wish to reach experienced experimentalists and point out how they can use items in their tool-kit to expand their research agenda. Along the way we make some methodological points about differences in how economists and psychologists approach experiments, payment protocols and concerns about external validity.
