Chapter 1 in The Crisis of Governance, 2023, pp 1-17 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: We are in the midst of a major and generic crisis of governance. The structures, institutions and arrangements of governance - some legal, some ethical and behavioural - have accrued over decades for the public and private sectors and for societies as a whole. They set out a framework, a set of processes, as to how governance is to work. They are in peril. The overall argument here is that governance is in crisis, that the institutional and practical ways of running organizations have become problematic for some in society and have become less effective.
