Abstract:
This entry illustrates the complex relationship between innovation and trade activities. It describes the existing evidence, and underlying theoretical explanations, concerning the positive impact of innovation on exports and the reverse effect of trade activities on innovation. Finally, the chapter proposes some avenues for future research, with a specific focus on the role of digitalization.
