Introduction: The Aristotelian Monetary Tradition

Edward W. Fuller

Chapter 1 in A Source Book on Early Monetary Thought, 2020, pp 1-7 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: It is impossible to overstate the significance of Aristotle in the history of monetary thought. The introduction traces Aristotle’s influence on monetary thinkers though the centuries. It shows that the modern theory of money is an Aristotelian theory of money.
