The science of business framework
.
Chapter 2 in The Science of Business, 2024, pp 9-17 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this chapter, our science of business framework is introduced. Seminal writings by Coase (1937) Williamson (1977, 1979, 1985) and others are considered to establish the role of firms in the economic system. These perspectives set the stage to review why firms exist and reflect on how what we know about different actors has evolved.
