Migrants to repopulate depopulated villages - Riace in Calabria, Italy and its mayor Mimmo Lucano

Pippo Ranci

Chapter 45 in Standing up for a Sustainable World, 2020, pp 309-313 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: In Riace migrants were invited to settle in empty homes, take up abandoned land, revive traditional production of goods and services, mixing their own traditions with the local ones. Because of its success, the experiment was terminated by a nationalist antiimmigration minister of the Interior in Italy central government.
