Current and possible future research directions in experimental finance
Charles Noussair
Chapter 1 in Handbook of Experimental Finance, 2022, pp 12-16 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter considers how the field of experimental finance has evolved over the last five years and discusses some potential future developments. There has been an increase in experimental papers published in the top finance journals, and experimental finance has made progress in establishing itself as a field that is distinct from experimental economics. There has been an increase in the use of field experiments in finance and continuing advancement in experimental research focused on rare and extreme events. Studying the interaction between artificial and human agents and the use of virtual reality are two potential growth areas for experimental finance.
