Chapter 23 in Research Handbook on Critical Theory, 2026, pp 258-268 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Fredrick Pollock is the Frankfurt School theorist most responsible for the formulation of the concept of state capitalism that became one of its most contentious and debated concepts, with debates ongoing in the present as to whether China, Russia and other so-called communist states have features of state capitalism, and as to which are the most salient features of contemporary democratic state capitalist regimes.
