Self-tracing and reporting: state-of-the-art in the capture of revealed behaviour

Abstract: The chapter discusses the state-of-the-art possibilities to capture the current behaviour of travel-lers ranging from self-reporting in questionnaires to self-tracking with GPS - equipped devices. It focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of the various formats to capture travel and ac-tivity spaces of the respondents and relates them to the response/participation rates in such exer-cises. The typical items and their underlying definitions are reviewed and discussed.
