Chapter 13 in The Social and Legal Impact of Autonomous Vehicles, 2025, pp 159-168 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: In Chapter 13, we aim to understand the social and collaborative aspects of human driving. We argue that driving is not just an individual pursuit but a collective activity that requires cooperation and goodwill among drivers. We also highlight the importance of social norms and conventions in regulating traffic flow and ensuring road safety. We further explore the learning and socialization processes involved in becoming a competent and responsible driver and examine the various social interactions and dynamics on the road.
