Rethinking mediation
.
Chapter 6 in Rethinking Conflict Resolution and Management, 2023, pp 83-98 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Mediation covered half the conflicts over the last half of the previous century and much fewer in the first two decades of the next. Mediation often involves ripening but also usually helping parties find an outcome. Studies have involved mediation’s norms, tactics, persuasion, power, numbers and coordination, and support. Beside continuing these topics, new work is called for on Peace Processes, mandates and support, subjects’ characteristics, training, and preparation all are opportunities for practices-oriented and conceptual research.
